This course introduces Ecological Economics as an alternative framework for understanding economic activity within ecological limits. It critically examines the assumptions of neoclassical economics and explores how economic systems are embedded within social and ecological systems. The course integrates insights from ecology, economics, and social sciences to address contemporary challenges such as resource depletion, climate change, and sustainability. Emphasis is placed on systems thinking, human behaviour, institutions, and policy instruments for achieving socially just and ecologically sustainable development.
